Opis:
Rzym, rok 1492. Kwitnie sztuka, tworzą Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael Santi i Michał Anioł, kiełkuje renesansowa filozofia. Jest to jednocześnie miejsce pełne zepsucia oraz skorumpowane do granic możliwości. Papież Innocenty VIII (Udo Kier) jest bliski śmierci, a za jego plecami toczy się bezpardonowa walka o władzę. Na wygranej najbardziej zależy Hiszpanowi Rodrigo Borgii (John Doman), który do objęcia tronu papieskiego wykorzystuje pieniądze, wpływy i czwórkę swoich dzieci. Po zwycięskim dla niego konklawe rozpoczyna okres rządów, które zapisują się krwawą kartą w historii Kościoła. Kardynałowie spiskują, świeccy władcy chcą korony, Rzymowi grozi wojna z Francją, a rywalizacja między dwojgiem starszych braci może doprowadzić do rozbicia rodziny.
