Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition to konwersja rozbudowanej automatowej edycji popularnej gry Super Street Fighter IV. Twórcy uznali, że wszystkie ulepszenia i dodatki są na tyle wartościowe, że warto je zaoferować również ludziom grającym w domu.
Podstawowe reguły zabawy nie uległy zmianie i wciąż jest to typowa bijatyka. Naprzeciwko siebie staje dwóch wojowników i zadaniem każdego z nich jest znokautowanie rywala, czyli zredukowanie jego paska życia do zera. W tym celu stosują oni własne style walki, które obejmują zarówno zwykłe ciosy, jak i ataki specjalne. Dużą rolę odgrywają też tzw. kombosy, czyli łączenie ciosów w sekwencje. Gra ponownie oferuje tryb singleplayer, choć jak zawsze to rozgrywki z innymi ludźmi (zarówno na jednym ekranie, jak i przez Internet) są najbardziej satysfakcjonujące.
W porównaniu do poprzednich wersji Arcade Edition rozszerza listę postaci o czterech nowych bohaterów. Możemy zatem teraz pokierować także Złym Ryu, przypominającym demona wojownikiem Oni oraz bliźniakami Yunem i Yangiem, którzy po raz pierwszy pojawili się w Street Fighter III. Ponadto autorzy zadbali o wprowadzenie wielu ulepszeń mechaniki pojedynków oraz systemu powtórek. Rozszerzono też tryby sieciowe. Co więcej, dokonano potężnych zmian w charakterystykach postaci, tak aby lepiej zbalansować rozgrywkę.
