Podobnie jak "A Night At The Opera" swój tytuł zawdzięcza kolejnemu filmowi braci Marx (Dzień na wyścigach (1937)), a jego okładka to wariacja na temat ilustracji zdobiącej poprzedni album. Formacja cieszyła się każdą sekundą odniesionego sukcesu, w rezultacie krążek wypełniły chwytliwe, optymistyczne i radosne piosenki.

Krążek "A Day At The Races" dotarł do 1 miejsca na brytyjskich listach. Przyniósł takie klasyki jak "Tie Your Mother Down", ulubioną kompozycję Freddiego Mercury'ego "Somebody To Love" oraz "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy".

Like A Night At The Opera, it again borrowed the name of a Marx Bros movie, and its cover was similar to that of ..Night..., a variation on the same Queen Crest. It reached #1 on the British charts and features the classics 'Tie Your Mother Down', Freddie Mercury's personal favorite composition 'Somebody To Love' and 'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy' Island.
